Economy
The Kenya Airways economy cabin features modern, slim line seats with the latest designs for comfort. Each seat is equipped with an adjustable headrest, ample recline and a personal seat-back video screen for hours of entertainment. Leg room, as measured by seat pitch is a generous 32 inches.
A complimentary hot meal and beverage service is offered on all international flights and duty-free is made available for purchase.
Business Class
Business Class, or Premier World as it is referred to on Kenya Airways is a separate cabin in the front of the plane designed for maximum comfort and personal space. Wide, arm chair seats recline to a lie-flat position, transforming to a bed at the touch of a button.
Entertainment is provided on personal TV screens for on-demand enjoyment of movies and other programming. A power point is also provided at each seat for the recharging of laptops and other electronic devices. The meal and beverage service is presented with real crockery, flatware and glassware. Passengers may select their choice of starter and main from the Premier World menu.
Baggage
Carry-on Baggage
Premier World passengers may travel with two carry-on bags in the cabin plus one small personal item such as a handbag, briefcase or laptop. The total weight of all items is 12kg.
Economy Class passengers are limited to one carry-on bag, plus one small personal item however the total weight allowed remains at 12kg.
Carry-on bags must not exceed the measurements of L55cm x W25cm x H35cm. All cabin baggage must be tagged with a label stating “approved KQ cabin luggage.” This label will be distributed at check-in.
Checked Baggage
The checked baggage allowance is determined by the routing of the flight, the passenger’s class of travel and frequent flyer status. The below chart shows the specific allowance given for each scenario.
Kenya Airways requires a name tag to be attached to each piece of checked luggage and recommends that an email address be included. Additionally, no one bag is permitted to weigh in excess of 32kg or 158cm.
Sporting Equipment
Sports equipment such as bicycles, scuba gear and surf equipment are not included in the free checked baggage allowance. The maximum dimensions are 300cm and the equipment must be identified in the booking before the date of departure. Your Flight Centre consultant can advise on specific packing instructions for each type of equipment.
To pack a bike in a bike box: turn the handlebars in and secure to the frame, remove pedals and front wheel if possible, lower or remove seat post and deflate tyres.
Restricted or Dangerous Goods
Like any airline, Kenya Airways has strict guidelines on restricted and dangerous goods. Those items deemed hazardous or potentially dangerous or harmful are not allowed in the cabin or in checked luggage.
Any sharp objects such as knives, scissors or box cutters are not allowed in the cabin. Any flammable material, liquid or gas, explosives, fireworks or toxins are not allowed to fly in checked luggage or in the cabin. Lithium batteries, such as those found in laptop computers are only allowed in hand luggage. Ask your Flight Centre consultant for a complete list of banned substances and materials.
If in doubt, leave it out. Even if you accidentally take a dangerous good on board an aircraft you can be fined and penalised.

Check-in
Kenya Airways’ ticket counters are available for check-in several hours before scheduled departure. For international flights, check-in closes 1 hour before departure. Anyone not checked in by this time may be denied boarding. On-line check-in is open from 30 hours to 2 hours before departure. Once your boarding pass is printed, passengers need only proceed to the bag drop-off counter before proceeding to the gate.
Members of the Flying Blue program who are Gold and Platinum Elite members will enjoy the benefits of a priority check-in lane as well as lounge access.

Lounges
Kenya Airways has a number of its own lounges at key African airports. At destinations without a Kenya Airways lounge, Premier World and Flying Blue’s Gold and Platinum elite members have access to hundreds of Skyteam lounges throughout the world. These comfortable spaces provide a peaceful environment in which to relax or work. Lounges feature such services as snacks and beverages, Wi-Fi, business centres, and at some locations, private showers.
Frequent Flyer
Flying Blue
The Kenya Airways frequent flyer program is known as Flying Blue. The program allows passengers to earn points for Kenya Airways and Skyteam member flights for the purposes of award travel, free upgrades, lounge access, increased baggage allowances and more.
The program consists of four tiers. It is free to join and members begin at the entry level tier of Ivory. At 25,000 miles, passengers move up to Silver Elite status which awards travellers with a 25 percent mileage bonus, award upgrade and additional baggage.
Gold Elite – Gold status is reached with 40,000 miles. Fifty percent bonus points are awarded to Gold travellers along with special benefits with KLM and Air France as well as lounge entry and increased baggage allowance.
Platinum Elite – With 70,000 accrued, Platinum status is awarded. This elite status offers such things as complimentary access to Kenya Airways and Skyteam lounges and a 100 percent mileage point bonus.
