Northern Lights Cruise

The voyage begins in Bergen, the second largest city in Norway and a gateway to the fjords. Founded in 1070 AD, Bergen showcases architecture that bears the influence of the prosperous 14th-century German trading organization, the Hanseatic League. Before boarding, passengers can relax in the comfortable guest lounge at the terminal. Once aboard, they can indulge in the first of many delicious meals made from fresh coastal produce as the ship departs Bergen and sails the old Viking route along Hjeltefjord.

Arrive at your first stop in the city, Ålesund. Renowned for its beautiful Art Nouveau architecture and Atlanterhavsparken, and is one of Northern Europe's largest saltwater aquariums. Travelers on the journey will have most of the day to explore this picturesque town if they are traveling with the company during spring or winter. Later, you'll head Into the fjords. 

This enchanting portion of the voyage offers us the opportunity to immerse ourselves in the breathtaking Trøndelag region of Norway, with its picturesque landscapes of crumpled hills, fields adorned with charming farmsteads, and idyllic coastal settlements nestled along the serene shoreline. 

Early in the morning, we embark on a captivating Arctic journey as we cross the Arctic Circle, commencing your remarkable tour of Norway's Arctic region. This significant moment is celebrated with a traditional ceremony that is guaranteed to invigorate your senses and awaken your spirit. 

The ship arrives in Harstad shortly after 7am, providing an opportunity for passengers to enjoy a serene early morning walk through the town. Continuing our journey, the ship sets sail towards Finnsnes, a destination that serves as a gateway to the enchanting island of Senja, connected by the remarkable Gisund Bridge. While navigating these waters, keep a keen eye out for the diverse array of seabirds that inhabit the nearby colonies, including the delightful puffins. 

Early in the morning, the ship arrives at Hammerfest, situated on the picturesque island of Kvaløya. During the summer months, the island becomes a temporary home to countless herds of migrating reindeer, presenting a remarkable natural spectacle. The unmistakable sight of the wind turbines at the iconic Havøysund wind farm signifies our arrival at Havøysund.

During the nighttime, we make a stop at Båtsfjord and Vardø, allowing for a brief visit to these fascinating locations. Then, in the early morning hours, we reach our final destination, Vadsø, where the ship docks, ready for you to begin your exploration of this captivating town. Situated in a breathtaking setting, the region surrounding Vadsø emerges as a renowned haven for birdwatching enthusiasts, boasting awe-inspiring vistas and abundant avian life. 

Throughout the night, we make stops at Mehamn and Kjøllefjord, allowing for brief but captivating encounters in these scenic locations. As morning breaks, we continue our journey, arriving early in Honningsvåg and Havøysund. These early morning visits provide the perfect opportunity to explore and immerse yourself in the unique charms of these destinations before the day unfolds. 

Today's itinerary takes you on an exploration of the captivating archipelagos of Lofoten and Vesterålen, truly among the highlights of our scenic route through Norway. Prepare to be enchanted by the stunning landscapes, picturesque villages, and awe-inspiring vistas that await you in these extraordinary island chains. Continuing our voyage, we arrive at Risøyhamn, our charming and intimate port of call. 

We embark on an exciting crossing over the Arctic Circle. Brace yourself for this remarkable milestone as we journey into the realm of the Arctic, marking a significant point in our expedition. We briefly pause at Nesna before continuing our voyage to Sandnessjøen, a captivating destination serving as the gateway to the breathtaking Helgeland Coast. Prepare to be enthralled by the awe-inspiring natural beauty and coastal wonders that await you in this magnificent region.

After a delightful morning spent in Trondheim, our voyage resumes, offering you the pleasure of witnessing awe-inspiring views of picturesque islands and quaint communities along the way. As we venture forth, we reach the vibrant destinations of Kristiansund and Molde, inviting you to embark on a journey of exploration and discovery within these captivating coastal towns. Immerse yourself in their distinctive cultures, soak in the breathtaking landscapes, and embrace the warm hospitality that awaits you in Kristiansund and Molde.

Our Norwegian coastal cruise, for now, will soon come to a close later today. Throughout the previous night, we made stops at Ålesund and Torvik, adding to our memorable journey. As we approach Måløy, there is a chance to catch sight of the northbound Coastal Express if you rise early enough, creating a fleeting but remarkable encounter on our voyage. Regrettably, the time has come to bid farewell to the Captain, crew, and fellow guests as our voyage concludes with disembarkation.
