Explore Africa on a group tour

Where else in the world but Africa is it possible to wake up to an elephant outside of your tent? The expansive continent promises a rugged and wild adventure in the form of safaris, game drives, road trips and wildlife watching. Pack your khakis, bring your binoculars, and leave the rest up to your expert tour guide. Most group tours to Africa centre around seeing the continent’s Big Five – lions, elephants, buffalo, leopards and rhinoceros – on a group tour. If you’re looking to see gorillas, opt for a safari in Rwanda, or to see whales, head to the coastline of South Africa. In addition to wildlife, Africa also promises incredible scenery, history and culture. History buffs won’t want to miss the pyramids of Egypt, while wine lovers won’t be able to resist a tour of South Africa's vineyards. Read on for more inspiration or visit our Africa holidays page.

What to see on a Africa tour

See the Big Five on safari

Travel through game reserves and across savannahs with locals who are experts at tracking wildlife. Tours range in interests, active and comfort levels, and are available in all of the major national parks and game reserves including South Africa, Namibia, Zimbabwe, Kenya, Tanzania and more.

Climb Kilimanjaro in Tanzania

Take on Africa’s tallest mountain with the help of an expert guide and porters, and a supporting group of like-minded individuals. The active rating on these tours is high but the sunrise at the top makes it all worth it.

Travel along one of the world’s most dramatic coastlines, stopping off at scenic spots for game drives, hiking, whale watching (seasonal) and wine tours.

Camp in the Sahara in Morocco

Explore the vibrant cities of Morocco and beyond on a group tour which covers the Atlas Mountains, Atlantic Coast and the Sahara, the world’s largest hot desert.

Cruise the Nile in Egypt

See the famous Pyramids of Giza before soaking up the sights of Egypt along the Nile on a cruise boat, complete with sundeck, bar and small pool onboard.

Top tip: When it comes to safaris in Africa, the options are endless. For your best chance to see some of Africa’s incredible wildlife, we recommend opting for a tour that includes a safari for three days or more. Generally speaking, the longer you’re on safari, the more chance you’ll have of seeing something. Also, some group tours and safaris will visit places where you’ll be more likely to see a certain animal such as elephants or rhinoceroses, so if you have a particular interest let one of our Experts know.
