Your Example Itinerary
Day 1
Fly from the UK to Tokyo
Days 2-4
Tokyo
Arrive in buzzy Tokyo, a city like no other with its juxtaposition of traditional and modern side by side. Check out the stunning Sensō-ji temple, then perhaps visit the electronics district at Akihabara, where you’ll find all sorts of gadgets and software as well as anime and manga comics. Visit the Digital Art Museum at the Mori Building where the creators aim to explore new relationships between humans and nature. Why not check out famous street crossing at Shibuya too, the largest in the world and constantly thronging with pedestrians. For a spot of culture, take a look at Tokyo’s most impressive Shinto shrine, Meiji Jingū, with its 12m-high torii entrance gate. With so much on offer in Tokyo, there really is something for everyone to explore in this great city.
4* Hotel Gracery Shinjuku
Days 5-6
Hiroshima
Your next stop is bustling Hiroshima, a city that has risen from its infamous past. Hiroshima will forever be known for the terrible events of 6th August 1945, but those expecting a sombre place will be pleasantly surprised – it’s bright and vibrant with some pretty spots, such as the Peace Memorial Park. Why not take a trip to Miyajima Island, famous for its torii gate that ‘floats’ at high tide? See if you can spot wild deer and be sure to try the delicious local grilled oysters with miso sauce.
4* Ana Crowne Plaza
Days 7-9
Kyoto
Head on to historic Kyoto and take a walk through the atmospheric streets of Gion, the geisha quarter. Don’t miss Kyoto Imperial Palace, built in 1855, former home to the Emperor of Japan and found in the pretty grounds of Tokyo Imperial Park. Visit Nijo Castle, an ornamental fortress built by Edo Shogunate as his Kyoto residence, and take in the beautiful gardens. Enjoy a private Bento cooking class, as well as a visit to Fushimi Inari, famous for its vermilion torii gates.
4* Hotel Gracery Kyoto Sanjo
Day 10
Depart Kyoto and return to the UK
