6 of the Best Hotel Slides

We all have a list of ‘must-haves’ we look for when choosing the perfect hotel – a big comfy bed, a giant pool to float around in, plenty of restaurants to choose from, a great bar. But thrill-seekers and younger travellers are often searching for that little something extra; something like an adrenaline-busting slide. After all, what better way to cool off than by zipping down a flume and plunging into refreshing waters? Here’s our pick of some of the best hotel slides on the planet:

Atlantis The Palm, Dubai

Boasting some of the most famous hotel slides in the world, the expansive Atlantis The Palm resort in Dubai is home to the Aquaventure Waterpark. Here, the iconic Leap of Faith water slide stands at a mighty 60-feet high and will hurtle you down its near-vertical drop in seconds, before you catapult through a tube surrounded by sharks and cownose rays. There’s still fun to be had for the fainter of heart though – a lazy river winds around the park for more than a mile, so you can sit back and watch the action from the comfort of your inflatable ring.

Great Wolf Lodge, Niagara Falls, Canada

After a day of exploring one of the most impressive natural wonders of the world, return to your lodge and splash around your very own waterfalls at this resort’s indoor water park. Hop aboard Canada Vortex and prepare yourself for a water jet-fuelled slide, complete with 40-foot drop, before you spin your way to a splash landing. Or whizz down the Niagara Rapids Run, which propels rafts up a steep climb before plunging down an exhilarating 52-foot vertical drop. With a water-fort tree house, a family raft ride and a lazy river, you could be forgiven for whiling away an entire day without leaving the resort.

Hilton Hawaii Village Waikiki Beach Resort, Honolulu

For a slower pace, look no further than Hilton Hawaii Village. Boasting the longest slide in Waikiki overlooking the Duke Kahanamoku Lagoon, as well as a 5,000-square-foot family activity pool, water babies will be in paradise here. There’s even a 10,000-square-foot super pool, a tiered lagoon, an infinity pool and a whirlpool. After plunging into the lagoon, sip a tropical cocktail poolside.

Orlando World Center Marriott, Florida

As if spending your day at Walt Disney World Florida wasn’t extraordinary enough, here you can return to your hotel - just a stone’s throw away from the Disney parks - throw your swimsuit on and make your way to the top of the slide tower. Take a deep breath before whizzing down one of two 200-foot winding water slides and plunging into the cool waters of Falls Pool Oasis. There’s also a 90-foot speed slide, a kids’ splash park, numerous pools and a nightly poolside laser light show – the perfect end to a day filled with Disney magic.

The Reef Atlantis Paradise Island, Bahamas

You may need to banish your inner scaredy-cat and channel those brave thoughts before taking on the epic Serpent Slide at The Reef Atlantis in the Bahamas. Onboard an inflatable tube, you should brace yourself for seriously high speeds as you twist and turn through a five-storey corkscrew into the darkness of the Mayan Temple’s core. This heart-stopping slide culminates with a ride through a clear tunnel submerged in a shark-filled lagoon. Or why not challenge your friend to a race and speed down the twin slides of the Mayan Temple?

Hard Rock Hotel Bali

Home to the largest free-form swimming pool in Bali and featuring a host of water slides and an adventure-packed kids’ water park, you’ll have a tough time dragging youngsters away from this resort. With a unique Sand Island, 22 poolside cabanas, a chill-out pool and several fun-packed slides suitable for kids, teenagers and adults alike, the Hard Rock promises something for everyone. And when the hunger pangs strike after all that whizzing around, the Splash Bistro will be waiting. Take a poolside seat and tuck into delicious wood-fired pizzas and mouth-watering pasta dishes, while watching the kids continue to race each other down the flumes.
