Shopping in Hong Kong

Whether you’re a shopaholic or enjoy the occasional browse, you’ll definitely want to save some space in your suitcase to pick up some souvenirs and local goodies. Hong Kong’s heritage is an international centre of trade so the art of shopping has been mastered.

If antiques are you thing then head to Cat Street market to hunt for rare furniture, embroidery, handicraftssilk products and other hidden treasures. Jardine’s Crescent is a great market to pick up clothing and accessories at bargain prices. You’ll need to rummage at this tightly packed market and haggle for your price but it’ll be worth it to take home some unique pieces.

For a different shopping experience head to the Dried Seafood Street to browse the common ingredients used in Chinese cooking. You’ll get a great insight into the food and health culture and pick up some tasty snacks along the way.

If you have a weakness for designer brands then you’ll want to head to Admiralty, Central and SoHo areas for luxury goods and high-end fashion in glittering skyscrapers. You’ll find more boutiques and individual stores in SoHo and it’s worth hanging around this area until the evening when it comes to life with a vibrant nightlife.

Eating and drinking in Hong Kong

Hong Kong is known as the Culinary Capital of Asia and the city is a huge playground for foodies with over 11,000 restaurants.

Head to the side streets to sample the fresh and traditional snacks and meals that are cooked up before your eyes. With every corner you turn you’ll be greeted by a new food stall with sizzling woks, steaming pork buns or sweet treats.

Hong Kong has an equally impressive selection of stylish restaurants, with over 60 Michelin-starred restaurants across all international cuisine.

Duddell’s – Duddell’s is celebrated as one of the most stylish restaurants in the city and is part restaurant, part art gallery with a modern and innovative twist on Chinese cuisine.

8½ Otto e Mezzo If you need a break from the Chinese food then head to this Italian restaurant. It’s the first Italian restaurant outside of Italy to be awarded three Michelin stars!

Tim Ho WanIf you’re on a budget but still want a dining experience with a title then head to Tim Ho Wan. This is the world’s cheapest Michelin-starred restaurant and serves delicious dim sum and other mouth-watering local dishes.

Partying in Hong Kong

The lively area of Lan Kwai Fong has over 80 bars, clubs and restaurants alone. You will find something to suit every taste whether you’re after a relaxing drink, a romantic evening or you want to party until dawn in world-class clubs with internationally renowned DJ’s.

If sophistication and style is what you’re after then head to Soho and Noho districts for high-end bars perfect for sipping elegantly on cocktails.

OZONE at the Ritz Carlton – Hong Kong has one of the best city skylines in Asia so the local nightlife is best enjoyed with a view over the twinkling lights in the world’s highest bar. You’ll find the Ritz Carlton on the 118th floor and don’t forget your camera, this will be a view you’ll want to remember!

Visage One – If you like your nightlife with a difference and with a spritz of hairspray then head to Visge One, a hair salon by day and a tiny jazz bar on Saturday nights.

Hong Kong Brew House - If you’re more of a beer fan than a cocktail drinker then head to Hong Kong Brew House where you’ll find over 90 craft beers from around the world including Hong Kong. You’ll also find some of Hong Kong’s best live music, comedy and quiz nights.
