Where to Stopover on Long-haul Flights
Here at Flight Centre we love nothing more than travelling to exotic and faraway destinations. The excitement of planning that big trip and then exploring somewhere new and unfamiliar is what we live for. But what if we told you that long-haul trips could be even more incredible?
What if we also told you that you could see even more of the world and stop at two or three destinations in one trip? And (it gets even better) it will hardly cost you any more! Not only can you break up those awful long flights but you can see even more of the world on your next holiday.
Here are just a few ideas for places you can stopover on long-haul flights.
Sydney, Dubai and Bangkok from £899
That long old flight to Sydney is a killer so why not break it up with a stay in super luxurious Dubai before hitting the beaches in Thailand?
We think this would be a dream holiday as you take in the biggest city in Australia, one of the biggest and best hubs for Asia and you get to see the incredible sights of Dubai. How’s that for a holiday?!
New York, Vancouver and Los Angeles from £659
Fancy visiting some of the biggest and best cities in North America? Yes, we thought you would! You can stop at all of these places for an incredible £659 which we think is a bargain if we do say so ourselves.
Hit the Big Apple to see iconic sights such as the Statue of Liberty, the Empire State Building, Brooklyn Bridge and the Rockerfeller Centre. While you’re in Vancouver, head over to Capilano Suspension Bridge, one of the city’s top attractions, stretching 137 metres across a canyon and providing epic views. While you’re in LA you can't miss visiting Universal Studios theme park and doing the typical tourist thing by having your photo taken next to the huge Hollywood sign. Go on, you know you want to!
Sydney, Hong Kong and Fiji from £1,115
You get a little bit of everything with this trip as you take in Australia, Hong Kong and Fiji. Hong Kong is known as ‘Asia’s World City’ thanks to the diversity and the cosmopolitan lifestyle and it’s a particularly great city for first time visitors to Asia. Take a trip up to ‘the Peak’ in Hong Kong where you’ll have a breathtaking view across the entire city. Whilst in Fiji you’ll have the chance to relax in paradise on those sparkling beaches that the country is famous for. If you’re interested in Fijian culture, don’t miss out on trying the traditional cava!
Thailand and Vietnam from £625
Now’s your chance to visit two very different but equally incredible Asian countries and these can easily be slotted into a two week holiday. Thailand can be as adventurous or as relaxing as you like but we’d recommend getting out and about in Vietnam and exploring the country.
In Vietnam, head to Halong Bay to sail between the craggy peaks in a traditional junk boat. Hoi An is the place to be for shopping as this city is famous for the tailors who can whip up a suit in no time and at a fraction of the cost of a suit at home. If you’re interested in Vietnam’s history and the Vietnamese war then the Chu Chi Tunnels cannot be missed.
Cape Town and Johannesburg from £699
If you’re not sure if you should visit Cape Town or Jo’burg on your trip to South Africa then don’t worry – you can visit them both. Be prepared for some adventures in Cape Town with activities like shark cage diving or abseiling down Table Mountain.
Take the chance to learn more about South Africa’s history and culture while you’re in Johannesburg with a visit to Soweto, the biggest Township in South Africa. Visit the Apartheid Museum to learn more about South Africa’s struggle towards equality.
If you’d like to either break up a long journey or visit a few destinations during your next holiday, take a look at our Red Fare Labels for multistop flights from just £399.
