American is the second-largest airline at London Heathrow (LHR) and operates up to 22 flights a day to the US, including new flights from LHR to Boston (BOS), reaching over 240 destinations across North America. So whether it’s on your bucket list to see the Golden Gate Bridge in San Francisco, explore the ancient Mayan ruins of Coba in Cancún, to reach the summit Sugarloaf Mountain in Rio de Janeiro, or to take in New York's Empire State Building, the opportunities for travel are endless with American.
Check-in
American Airlines offers online web check-in and airport kiosk and ticket counter options.
Online: Flight check-in is available online beginning 24 hours and up to 90 minutes before departure. Online check-in may not be available to those countries which require a visa. To check-in online you must have their reservation number or record locator and the full name as it appears on the reservation. You may also select your boarding pass delivery preference or may simply print out a hard copy.
Kiosk: American Airlines provides kiosks at most of its airports including internationally. Passengers can either swipe their passport or credit card attached to the reservation to begin or type in the record locater. Passengers travelling with an infant or those with special needs are not able to use a kiosk for check-in and must do so at the ticket counter.
Counter: Check-in counters offer personal attention where you may drop off your bags and collect boarding passes. Passport and other travel documentation will be checked here.
Baggage Allowance
Carry-on
Passengers are allowed one piece of carry-on luggage – which should not exceed 22 x 14 x 9 inches (56 x 36 x 23 cm) – plus one personal item (up to 8 x 14 x 8 inches (45 x 35 x 20 cm)) such as a laptop bag, backpack or similar. Passengers can also carry a book or newspaper, a coat and hat, or diaper bag for a ticketed child.

- Economy Class passengers: charged a baggage fee for all bags checked domestically, but are entitled to 1 bag free of charge (23kg) on select international flights.
- Premium Economy Class passengers: 1 bag (up to 23kg) on all flights, 2 bags on select flights.
- Flagship™ First and Business Class passengers: 3 bags (each up to 32kg).
Bulky Items
The baggage allowance for overweight and oversized items are charged at different rates depending on the passenger’s itinerary and final destination. The maximum weight and size for all items is 100 lbs (45kg) and 126 inches (320cm; length + width + height).
Infant Baggage
The standard baggage allowance as determined by ticketed class is offered for infants or children with a purchased seat. Infants without a purchased seat do not receive a carry-on or checked baggage allowance, however the parent or accompanying adult is allowed 1 personal item such as a diaper bag, pram or car seat for hand luggage.

Frequent Flyer Programme
The American AAdvantage program allows members to earn and redeem miles on American, American Eagle and oneworld alliance flights, including Qantas, LAN, Japan Airlines, British Airways, Malaysia Airways, Cathay Pacific and more. Mile can be used for:

Members of the loyalty programme can earn miles when they fly with American Airlines or its partners, and can also buy, share and gift miles.
Main Cabin (Economy)
You won’t compromise on comfort in American’s Main Cabin. Sit back and enjoy the latest movies and TV shows available on demand, as well as two complimentary meals and drinks. Plus, enjoy a signature ice cream halfway through your flight.
Entertainment: Customers can enjoy Wi-Fi when travelling internationally.
Travellers can also watch complimentary live TV, presented by MasterCard®, on all long-haul international flights. Enjoy four channels – including BBC World, CNBC, CNN and Sports24 – in all cabins.
On its in-flight entertainment system, American Airlines has over 1,000 hours of entertainment – enough options for customers to travel around the world 26 times without repeating.
Food and Beverage: International flights offer menus with delicious appetisers, salads, entrees and desserts, plus complimentary wine and beer. On domestic flights over 250 miles, non-alcoholic beverages are always complimentary, together with Lotus Biscoff cookies or mini pretzels. Plus, customers have a choice of hearty sandwiches, wraps and fruit and cheese plates, all available for purchase.
