Are you the World’s Worst Travel Photographer?
We’re on a mission to find the World’s Worst Travel Photographer 2012. Is it you? Send us your worst travel snaps to find out!
Do you marvel at the creative genius displayed by professional travel photographers? Their ability to capture the essence of the moment in a single snap? How they appear, as if by magic, to be in the right place in the right time? You might say to yourself, I can do that!
You press the button, the shutter closes, your creative power is unleashed! Wait, something’s gone wrong. Very wrong. Heads are cut off, fingers obscure objects, ground becomes sky. You wonder, why is my photo so awful?
Fear not, shoddy snappers, we’re holding a competition to celebrate your failures, with some amazing prizes and some big name judges – including TV presenter and adventurer, Simon Reeve, Travel Photographer of the Year founder Chris Coe, award-winning photographer Anthony Cullen, freelance writer and photographer Max Wooldridge and leading photo blogger and iPhoneography expert Kirsten Alana.
How it works
Simply send us your worst travel pics along with a caption including: your name, where your image was taken and what the photo was meant to be ... before it all went so terribly wrong.
You can enter into two categories: photos taken with a camera or photos taken with a mobile.
Our panel of esteemed judges will set to work deciding which of you is in most need of photographic reform – they’ll be looking for a glimmer of hope in your entries , something to show them that there is a spark of talent in there, somewhere!
What you’ll win
Your photographic failings will be rewarded with fantastic prizes to help set your photography skills on the straight and narrow:
- A Fuji X-S1 Camera (worth more than £500) from Dixon’s
- A place on a photography course from Chris Coe (Founder, Travel Photographer of the Year) or Anthony Cullen (Hodge/Observer winning photographer)
- Travel vouchers – let’s face it, if you're entering this competition, you'll probably need as much practice as you can get!
More great surprises
Our judging panel are on standby to give you the best tips and tricks to improve your photography skills – including live Q&A sessions on Twitter and Facebook.
