Escapes vs Journeys: Which Holiday Suits You?

At Flight Centre, we don't just book flights. We have our own holidays too! Holidays that have been curated and experienced by our Experts, and fine-tuned to ensure they’re the best around in terms of experience AND value.

Within our holidays there are two types: Escapes and Journeys. Both holiday types can be tailor-made to suit you, and include access to our dedicated concierge service that will be with you every step of the way, helping you choose the right tours, restaurants or even travel insurance to suit your needs. But which one is ideal for your next trip abroad? Here are some handy scenarios to help you find that perfect holiday.

Set the pace

We know you work hard for your holidays which is why we've created two holiday ranges to suit two different types of trips. Escapes feature a hand-picked collection of the most desirable hotels, so if you just want to relax, unwind and stay in the one place, an Escape holiday is for you.

Journeys however are more like curated itineraries where you'll arrive in one city and stop-off at a few other places before returning home. They still run at a steady pace but are designed to ensure you see as much as possible in the time you have available.

Choose your scene

If you're all about the perfect pool, then our Escape holidays are probably your idea of heaven. From the infinity variety, overlooking the beaches of Thailand, to overwater bungalows with your own toe-dip worthy plunge in the Maldives, our Escape holidays take the pool scene to another level!

For those looking to venture beyond the lido and onto the road, look no further than our Journeys. Most of our holiday itineraries in the USA, Australia, New Zealand, South Africa and Canada are self-drive itineraries with a difference: we've done all the hard work in terms of where to go and where to stay, so all you need do is turn the music up loud, put pedal to the metal and drive.

Chase the dream

Romantic holiday in Mauritius? Relaxing beach holiday in Mexico? Resort stay in Miami? The answer to all of these are our Escapes. Having scoured the world to seek out the best resorts where you can relax, unwind and soak in some postcard-perfect scenery, we've created several beach holiday options throughout the Caribbean, Mexico, Indian Ocean, USA, Middle East, Asia and the South Pacific, with more in Europe coming soon.

For something more experiential, we have Journey itineraries available across some of the most exotic and exciting destinations. From travelling the Golden Triangle in India with a private tour manager, to cruising Halong Bay in Vietnam and riding the iconic Rocky Mountaineer in Canada, our itineraries will show you the world's most iconic destinations in the best way possible.

Choose your perks

More than just flights and accommodation, our holidays also include a range of perks and extras.

When you book an Escape you'll enjoy a range of added extras, including transfers to and from your hotel to the airport. Other holidays, depending on which property you book, will also include bonus extras like complimentary water sports, spa treatments and room upgrades, while select resorts are all inclusive.

Our Journey holidays include flights, accommodation, transport, airport transfers as well as a range of activities and experiences depending on the itinerary. For example, on our Garden Route and Safari holiday, you'll enjoy three game drives as well as a tour of Table Mountain and Cape Town, while on our Cambodia Explorer itinerary you'll get to enjoy a range of excursions including a private tour of Angkor Wat and cruise of Tonle Sap.

All of our Escapes and Journeys can be tailor-made to suit you. Talk to one of our Travel Experts today and start planning your next holiday.
