Flights from the UK to Vietnam generally disembark at Noi Bai International Airport, serving the capital city of Hanoi in the north, or Tan Son Nhat International Airport, serving Ho Chi Minh City in the south. Direct, non-stop flights typically take around 11 hours and 5 minutes from London to Hanoi, while flights including a stopover in Bangkok, Dubai, France, Qatar or Turkey can take around 16 hours. From Hanoi or Ho Chi Minh City, it is possible to travel around the country overland.

The total flight duration from London to Hanoi is 11 hours and 5 minutes and from London to Ho Chi Minh is 15 hours and 5 minutes including a stopover.

For stays of up to 15 days, British passport holders can visit Vietnam without a visa. Travellers visiting for up to 30 days will need to obtain an e-visa (US$25) online in advance of travel. This is where you can really put your haggling skills to the test. Be sure to catch a show at the Golden Dragon Water Puppet Theatre too, and grab a delicious cup of Vietnamese coffee.
